Supercute Futures and Reading Science Fiction
I spent the last 6 months reading. A lot. Mostly science fiction books, some poetry and some other interesting stuff. I loved it.
The science fiction collection included the following. The Nexus trilogy by Ramez Naam (Nexus, Crux, Apex). Autonomous by Annalee Newitz. Slow Bullets by Alastair Reynolds. Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. All System Red by Martha Wells. The Three Body Problem trilogy by Cixin Liu. Binti by Nnedi Okorafor. Supercute Futures by Martin Millar.
It was Supercute Futures that surprised me. Simple and cute yet dystopian and approachable in a brilliant, science fiction way. A refreshing approach filled with pink, high tech glitter and some blood. A blend of trans humans, post humans and humanity as we know it today. Pretty fucked up and raw.
It’s much better than it sounds. It’s supercute and funny. Vulnerable and broken characters and Artificial Intelligence. Big time corruption and software bugs and hunger for power.
If you are into science fiction give Supercute Futures a try.
